The Chiropractor and You …

October 27th, 2006

In todays world, medical care usually comes with over diagnosed symptoms and too many drugs. You see it in commercials, advertisements on a bus, even behind home plate at a baseball game. Prescription drugs are becoming so common in staying “healthy” that people are becoming more dependent on them. Consumers need to seek maintaining wellness, not just treating an injury or illness. Holistic, natural health care is a great alternative and is something a chiropractor can definitely provide.

Going to a chiropractor is a wonderful investment in your overall well- being. Here are some reasons why:

Drug-Free

Unlike many medical practitioners who just want to send their patient away with prescription painkillers, a chiropractor actually cares about their patients long- term health. An organic health care provider, a chiropractor uses no drugs or surgery to treat their patients. They provide natural treatment methods to promote treatment for the short long term.

Simplistic

A chiropractor believes that illness resistance is linked to the balance of your muscular and skeletal systems, specifically in the spine. When there is an imbalance in this system, it can cause aches, pains and sickness.  To remedy this, a chiropractor will adjust the spinal column manually, or use other natural methods such as water, acupuncture or ultrasound treatment to target the problem.

Affordable

The increasing popularity of alternative forms of medicine has, in turn, led to an increase in chiropractor practice. A patient can choose to pay for their chiropractor out of pocket or through their health insurance. With most insurance companies this is a covered expense.

Trustworthy

Natural, organic based treatment and prevention is the only prescription that a chiropractor gives to patients. As stated before, drugs are not used in this practice. But a chiropractor still has to undergo years of study as a standard medical practitioner would. This includes two to four years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelors degree, as well as four years of additional schooling in a chiropractic college.

If youre looking for a way to increase your overall well being, and not just drug your way to feeling better, then seeing a chiropractor is right for you. To stay active, it requires that you take care of your body as much as possible. This includes diet, exercise and visits to a chiropractor when needed. He or she will not only fix your spine, but also help you in maintaining your natural health.

Chiropractor Associations Thrive Worldwide

October 27th, 2006

There are numerous professional organizations the world over, some better than others, but that is a different subject altogether! So, it is no surprise that the field of chiropractic medicine, which is a form of medicine that works on adjusting the skeletal system to relieve various health related problems, is a profession that has numerous professional associations promoting the field. While providing a complete and comprehensive listing of the multitude of chiropractor organizations would be a daunting task, a quick listing of three of the most well known ones.

About Organizations

The first organization of note is the International Chiropractor Association (ICA) which is an organization global in scope (they are holding one of their 2006 conferences in Madrid, Spain). One of the main problems that chiropractic medicine is a relatively new health service and many people the world over do not recognize it as being in the same status group of traditional medicine or other divisions of the medical field.

The International Chiropractor Association seeks to change that perception by promoting the benefits of chiropractic medicine across the globe and hopes to eventually see it held in the same regard as its peers.

Moving as a Chiropractor

Moving from international to domestic, we have the America Chiropractor Association (ACA) which is a governing body not unlike the ICA. At first glance, the ACA looks very similar to a labor union which it is not. It is more akin to a professional or trade association that seeks to create a platform for the promotion and continued growth of the chiropractic field. In additional to such noble goals, this association also acts as an advocacy group for doctors and patients alike.

First, we examined an international chiropractor association, and second, we examined a North American chiropractor association. Now, we move on to examine a spiritual one, which is a spiritual association for chiropractors in the form of the Christian Chiropractor Association (CCA).

The CCA is a United States based Evangelical Christian chiropractic organization whose origins begin with missionary work overseas. Today, they provide a collective body for fellow Christians (note: membership is not exclusive to one faith) to provide both the furthering of the chiropractic field and to also provide a faith based charitable initiative to members of local communities, and the CCAs goals are thoroughly noble.

Of course, there are many others than what have been listed here with new ones forming everyday, and this is always a good sign for the health of the industry.
